After all the ceiling panels were removed, it was time to get the insulation out of there! Even though the bus is 19 years old, it wasn't looking too bad underneath everything.

We chose to take the bus down to its bare metal for two reasons:

  1. Check to make sure there was no hidden rust or major issues

  2. We wanted to start with a fresh slate where we got to chose the insulation, flooring, etc.

Step 1: After putting on a respirator and gloves (safety first!), we started to take the insulation out by rolling each section and taking down as much as we could. It was glued to the metal ceiling so there were some little pieces left over.

Step 2: Once all the large sections of insulation were taken down, we used a shop vac to suck up anything that was remaining. It didn't get everything, so we tried scraping some off with any tools we could find, and also just using our gloves to brush them off.
